Hey everyone! As far as I’m concerned, the Glide Oregon area is the outdoor recreational capital of Douglas County! With plenty of recreational area along the Umpqua River for camping, hiking, waterfalls, swimming, fishing, and more.. Chances are if you’re looking for outdoor fun this summer you’ll be passing through Glide Oregon! So let’s go ahead and hop right into it! 🌲
Glide Oregon is a small town with a population of less than 1500 and is located 18 minutes East of Roseburg off of the Highway 138 scenic byway. Highway 138 is the route to take for visiting Diamond Lake, Lemolo Lake, and the biggest statewide attraction, Crater Lake! 🌋
For those that live in Roseburg and Douglas County the Glide area and Umpqua National Forest is the best place to go for camping with tons of sites to choose from! 🏕️
For anyone new to the area, I always recommend checking out our local waterfall hikes. There are plenty to choose from all near or passing through Glide Oregon. Wolf Creek Falls, Susan Creek Falls, Fall Creek Falls, Grotto Falls, Yakso Falls, just to name a few favorites close by. 🥾
Most of the locals that live in Glide Oregon commute to Roseburg for work, which is only an 18 minute drive on a nice wide 4 lane highway back to town. Roseburg Oregon is where all of your major grocery shopping will be done with big box stores like Costco and Wal-Mart.
But one thing locals don’t have to commute for is food! With the Atom Bistro and Coffee Bar, Colliding Rivers Drive In, and the 138 Grill. 😋
One of the more popular neighborhoods in Glide Oregon is the Bar L Ranch Subdivision. Many of these properties are 5 acres or more in mostly densely wooded forest like terrain. Most of these properties offer privacy from your neighbors, a little room to grow, and if you’re lucky, you may even find yourself a home with a view! 🌄
The Little River and Cavitt Creek areas are very popular, and also where you’ll find a lot of good swim holes and hiking trails! There is a good mix of homes in this area, and many of them are waterfront built right on the Little River or Cavitt Creek. Both of these waterways are fed from the snow melt and while they are a little colder waters, they offer a strong flow for outdoor recreation throughout the summer. 🏔️
Between Roseburg and Glide there are also the North Bank, Wild River, and Whistlers Bend areas where you’ll find a mix of higher end homes and a lot of North Umpqua River frontage and small acreage properties. 🎣
