Hey everyone! Today we are going to be hiking two of my favorite waterfall trails outside of Roseburg Oregon. We’ll be starting at the Wolf Creek Falls Trailhead and then finish up by hiking the Grotto Falls Trail. Both trails lead to beautiful Oregon waterfalls you won’t want to miss out on!
The Wolf Creek Falls Trail is just outside of the small town of Glide, Oregon about 25 minutes outside of Roseburg Oregon. You’ll enjoy the beautiful views on your drive up to the Wolf Creek Falls trail head. There’s plenty of parking, with extra parking and restroom located across the road from the Wolf Creek Falls trail head. The trail is classified as easy for the first portion and becomes moderately more difficult as you progress toward the falls on this 1.2 mile hike. A great trail to bring the kids along!
The falls are a unique and impressive two-tier display. The main falls having a total height over 75ft, and ending in a deep blue pool. Hopefully you brought a towel, because both tiers offer great swimming holes to enjoy during the hot summer months.
Wolf Creek Falls has always been a personal favorite because of the proximity to Roseburg Oregon and the beautiful falls themselves. For the avid explorer, you could finish this moderately easy hike and head to the next one with the Grotto Falls trailhead within just a few miles. Camping is also offered nearby at the Wolf Creek Campground just 1.3 miles more up Little River Road.
Grotto Falls is going to be found at towards the end of Little River Road, and then up a gravel road leading into the mountains. Because the Grotto Falls trailhead is deeper in the forest, there’s usually less visitors and it’s not uncommon for you to have this spot to yourself! This waterfall may not offer a swimming hole, but you can actually walk behind the falls, making it a beautiful and unique experience. The trail is only a half mile, and offers moderate switchbacks up to the falls. Making Grotto Falls an easy and quick hike! I’ve personally hiked to the top of Grotto Falls, where there are several consecutive water fall tiers as you go further and further up the mountain until you find yourself in a natural bowl from the last waterfall. If you’re feeling adventurous and physically capable it’s definitely worth the hike.
